A Grounded Approach To Meaningful Change

Clinical Training. Real-World Experience.

“I’ve had a long history of working with therapists and see it as something I benefit from. It’s not always easy to find someone who is relatable and where I feel comfortable to accept guidance and to talk in an unguarded manner. Uri brings these qualities to the table and I always look forward to talking with him. I trust him.”

The Experience Behind The Practice

Less Friction. More Possibility.

Uri’s work is grounded in the belief that people can create meaningful change when they have the right space to understand themselves, their relationships and the choices available to them.

The approach is warm, direct and practical, with enough structure to keep the work purposeful and enough flexibility to meet each person where they are.

THE BEGINNING

Curiosity, Travel And An Early Interest In Wellness

I travelled extensively throughout my 20s, experiencing different countries, cultures and ways of living.

It was during those years, in the early 1990s, that my interest in wellness first began.

Being exposed to different cultures gave me a lasting curiosity about how people make sense of themselves and the world around them. That interest continued to develop over the years through my own learning, professional work and close involvement with people and relationships.

What began as a personal interest eventually became a professional commitment.

WHY I DO THIS WORK

Helping People Experience Less Friction

I enjoy being of service to people.

There is something deeply meaningful about helping someone move from a place of confusion, conflict or suffering towards greater clarity and ease in their life.

I don't see counselling as about giving people all the answers.

People are the experts in their own lives. My role is to bring experience, perspective and a way of working that can help them understand what they are experiencing and make choices with greater awareness.

If I can help someone experience less friction in themselves, their relationships or their life, I consider that a privilege.

HOW I WORK

Warm Enough To Be Honest. Direct Enough To Be Useful.

I want the counselling space to feel safe enough for people to say what they really think and feel.

But safety does not mean avoiding difficult conversations.

I am direct when something needs to be explored, while remaining attentive to the person sitting in front of me.

There is structure to the work because I believe counselling should have somewhere to go. At the same time, no two people or relationships are the same, so the process needs room to respond to what emerges.

There can also be lightness.

Serious work does not need to be serious every minute. Humour, warmth and perspective can have their place alongside difficult or emotional conversations.

MY PHILOSOPHY

CLARITY

RESPONSIBILITY

CHANGE

Beyond The Therapy Room

Outside of counselling, I have always been drawn to travel, different cultures, warm weather and the experiences that make life feel expansive.

My interest in people has never been limited to a professional context.

I remain curious about how people live, what they value, how relationships evolve and what allows someone to create a life that feels genuinely their own.

That curiosity is part of what I bring into the room.

Not a formula for how someone should live, but an interest in understanding the person in front of me and what matters to them.
